Summary
According to section 37 Land Consolidation Act of the Federal Republic of Germany (Flurbereinigungsgesetz, FlurbG), land consolidation measures reshape the landscape. With the possibility of also carrying out soil protection measures, a variety of measures can be implemented to protect the soil from water erosion through changes in use, the creation of erosion barriers and the support of slope-parallel cultivation. These measures can also be counted as compensation measures for interventions in the protected resource soil and do not contradict the goal of improving production and working conditions in agriculture. Against the backdrop of climate change, erosion control measures will become increasingly important in land consolidation procedures.
